High Intensity Interval Training!!

High Intensity Interval Training

There are so many different exercise styles out there for anyone to try, but this one tops the cake! High intensity interval training or in other terms, HIIT, is a fast-paced training style that uses short, intense bursts of exercise which only takes 20-40 minutes to get that good workout in, which is a plus in my book! To a beginner this type of workout may be intimidating at first, but an advantage to doing HIIT is that you’re able to customize it to your needs and abilities. Using this style of exercise will make you sweat all while keeping your heart rate up during the whole workout.

When planning your next workout focus on the ratio between hard work and rest. The most common ratio is 20 on 10 off. This means that you do 20 seconds of high intensity work followed by 10 seconds of rest, the amount of sets you do is up to you! I suggest picking 8-10 of your favorite exercises and go through that set at least three times! Feel that burn!
The nice thing about a HIIT workout is that you have many options to choose from. Whether that be bodyweight exercises, cycling, jogging, strength training, swimming, or even group fitness classes. Stick to what you love or go out of your comfort zone for this type of workout. I promise you; you won’t regret it.
